Have you heard the story of Jehoshaphat? Funny name, I know, but this guy was the king of Judah.

Jehoshaphat received bad news that a vast army was coming against him. Of course this caused alarm. But the first thing Jehoshaphat did was to seek the Lord. The king proclaimed a fast and began to ask God what in the world to do. He prayed, “God, we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We don’t know what to do, but our eyes are on you.”

That’s what unshakeable confidence in God looks like. It looks like you fastening your gaze on God. It looks like you going to him in prayer. It looks like you taking heart that God will do what you can’t—whatever that may be!

You know where this story is going. Jehoshaphat put his confidence in God, then God sent confusion into the enemy’s camp. Those soldiers couldn’t see straight. Their thinking was crazy because they began to destroy one another instead of Jehoshaphat and his kingdom that they’d come to seize.

Jehoshaphat didn’t even have to fight the battle. God did it for him.
