Today I want to challenge you to be strong and courageous and don’t even think about giving up on your dreams or whatever you are praying about. It’s easy to fall into discouragement, but discouragement will not benefit you in any way. So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up. (Galatians 6:9)

We need to take a lesson from Stax, who is my friend Susan’s English bulldog. He doesn’t even know what the words give up mean.

Every time Stax chomps on a toy, you might as well forget trying to pull it from him! Susan says that he:

  • Never wavers in his stance. Stax plants his back feet in a defense position and never moves them.
  • Never lets go. He uses the front part of his body to pull what he wants, then grips tight with his jaw and keeps on clamping.
  • Sets his eyes on the object. He is so focused that he’s not affected by anything, not even a treat!
  • Remains unaffected by time. He just keeps pulling until he gets the object of his desire.

When it comes to our faith, we need to have bulldog tenacity like Stax. We need to plant our feet in the Word of God, keep our eyes on the prize, and be patient as we wait on God’s timing.

If Stax can do that—how much more can we since we have the power of the Holy Spirit inside of us to help and strengthen us! Keep trusting God today and tomorrow and the next day because He is a faithful and promises to complete the work He has begun.
